The Harness Goat Society was formed in 1986.

The aims of the Society are:
To maintain and improve the standard, care and well-being of the Harness Goat.
To act as a governing body to whom Show committees can refer for guidance in framing conditions for Working Goat Classes.
To educate and encourage all interested parties by means of lectures, parades and discussions.
To act as a source of advice on the optimum type and length of work, suitability of vehicles and packs, and on any other matters pertaining to the health and training of the Harness Goat.

The Harness Goat Society magazine is published quarterly and contains a wide variety of articles and photographs on all aspects of goat driving.
The Harness Goat Society U.K. members and their turnouts are also covered under its insurance policy for third party liability whilst at any public event, when appearing as a member of the H.G.S.
